Storing, ripening, keeping your organic food.

We recommend

  • Care of the vegetables and fruits

  • Greens: Wrap your greens in paper or a cloth bag and then put them in a plastic bag/ziploc. The paper or cloth allows the greens to breathe but prevents them from rotting while the plastic prevents them from drying out.

  • Beans and bhindi: Same as for greens

  • Other vegetables particularly those with the more waxy skins can be kept in your vegetable drawer.

  • Fruits: Keep your fruit in paper bags to ripen and check on them at least once a day. Mangoes can be kept in newspaper or rice straw if you have it.

  • Care of non perishables

  • Rice: Store rice in a jar or sack. Sun after a month or so.

  • Millets: Those in powdered form are more susceptible (attractive) to insects and pests (they know whats good for them!) so keep them in airtight containers and use them quickly. If storing for longer it is better to keep them in the fridge or freezer.
